London, Sweet London

Hello everyone and happy June,

Two weeks back I was blessed with another long weekend and I took up the opportunity to go back to my old home city; London. The main reason for my visit was a gig by one of my favourite artists; Chronixx.

Luckily, there are some super cheap direct flights between Torino and London! Sadly, M11 highway happened to be partially out of use (which was only informed to us after it was too late to get out any more) and the casual 1-hour bus ride to London turned out to be nearly 4. Needless to say, this had me going crazy with my limited holiday time. In the end, I managed to jump out near the Tower of London where I was meeting my friend for a true-English fish and chips. The weather was really blessing us and we spent the afternoon walking around by the Thames. Arsenal was playing against Chelsea in the finals later that day so we found ourselves a cute German sports bar near the Tower and stayed for the game. The atmosphere was great and the game ended well for us so the evening was very successful.

The summer sun was still shining so we decided to climb on top of the Tate Modern art gallery to watch the sunset. The entrance is donation based and the place is very visitor friendly. I never even knew that they had such a nice rooftop! And I thought that I had been on all the rooftops in London…

Day two was spent strolling around Oxford Street and the Camden food market which is my ultimate favourite thing in London! Fortunately, it is right near our house so I have been able to pop by there every weekend I have spent in London. Nothing is better than a Sunday spent in the sun, by the river, drinking Pimms with your friends and enjoying the world’s best street food.

I had randomly found this photo on Instagram of a really brilliant looking place in London that I had never heard of! It’s called Neal’s Yard and it is right by the Covent Gardens. So our mission on Sunday was to find this place and take some colourful pictures. I would say mission accomplished perfectly. This was the happy surprise during my trip and we enjoyed some local organic cider in at a window overlooking this place (in a super fabulous smelling vegan restaurant that I would recommend everyone trying).

The night was happily sent at the O2 arena dancing away to quality reggae. My flight departed Stansted at 6.30 am so I had booked myself a 4.00 am bus back to the airport from London Victoria station. The route back took barely an hour and I was well on-time at my gate.

Overall, it was a blessed weekend. I didn’t believe that London could still surprise me as much but I am very glad that it did.

Until next time,

Mira
