How to vineyard in Italy?

Let’s talk about one of the favourite Italian past-time activities!

If you are more picky about your wines then I would suggest you do your research on the variety of Italian wine regions very well. However, for me, most Italian smaller wine producers were completely new and I wasn’t really wise enough to be picky. One of the most popular red wine types from the Piedmont area is the barbera. So when we were looking into some vineyard resorts relatively nearby, we were settled to be enjoying some tasty barbera and others. I actually managed to delegate the resort finding to my friend but had enough look around to know that there are plenty of options depending on what kind of service you are looking for; solely tasting, overnight resorts, beautiful sceneries, restaurants. Take your pick.

We picked a stunning looking, rather large vineyard near Asti, rented a car and drove around an hour east from Torino.

The vineyard itself was stunning, perfectly old school for me and offered me that well-needed peace and quiet. We sat outside enjoying the sun and some wines at first. Very very lovely. Most of the wines from the smaller vineyards never go into a mass-production but solely cater to restaurants and visitors.

The vineyard also contained a separate house for weddings and a large sun terrace overlooking the vineyards and their neighbour’s white horses. We dined at the resort’s restaurant and enjoyed the chef’s special tasting menu. To add to the lovely atmosphere, the dinner was fabulous and crowned off by the breathtaking sunset.

Absolutely relaxing, pretty weekend and I would recommend it to anyone, even if you are travelling around Italy on a budget!
