Cape Town daily life

Happy weekend everyone,
I am now feeling rather settled back into CT even though I have yet to move to my own place in Obs. But Uni has started and I have found myself both a thesis topic and a supervisor. I shall be writing about the persecution of children of war crimes, possible defences, legal issues and the effect of the Ongwen trial in future legislation. Sounds fun at least to me.
Student life itself has started well and now that I am partaking in courses that I am actually interested in, I have met many like-minded people which is always very enriching. I have restarted my usual daily routines of gym and yoga which feels great, though the practice in the scorching heat is very different from before. I have finally managed to get a good coffee maker at home so I don’t feel so out of place every day.

We spent our weekend with our mom in Strand which was just super chilled and gave me another energy boost.
Now I am hoping to get a head start on my Uni assignments and thesis and hopefully will be able to get something done before the holidays just so that I can enjoy Africa to the fullest. The Uni tasks themselves actually feel very inspirational, however, the daily speed of things does bug me; lack of public transport, water restrictions and the lack of internet at the Uni are driving me a little insane. I mean which university does not provide internet on campus? These are just the things that, I feel, are preventing me from truly focusing on the main tasks at hand.
Luckily, there are so many fun things around the corner such as the Stellebosch wine festival, gin&tonic tasting, a 10k mud run and maybe even a half marathon if this heat allows it. I have yet to hike Lion’s Head at dawn but it shall be coming up as soon as I have completed my move to central.

I spent Valentine’s day chilling with some of my dear friends, we went out for breakfast and then sat at the Uni’s botanical garden for the afternoon. I took my sister out for a cute dinner in the evening.
We did some sunset spotting by Gordon’s Bay in Strand. Just drive along the coastal line from the main beach and you will come across these stunning little stops where you can have a picnic and admire the views.
Happy and sunny greetings from the South,
Mira
